Nursing clinical reflection

Description:

Today was our second week of clinical in Neurosurgery ward in HMC. We went there for research purpose. When we went there, we met with the head nurse of the ward and other staff member. We did Salam on then and after that the head nurse of the ward assigned tasks to everyone of us. Our preceptor was on leave today. So, we had to do whatever the head nurse told us. So, I went to the chambers in the ward and write nursing notes on every patient, whose nursing notes was not done yet. While writing the nursing notes, I also checked the patient’s GCS and write it in my notes. We also searched there for our research topics.

Feelings:

As our preceptor was on leave, so I thought that how will we work here today. But when I spent time there, I had learnt a lot there at the end of the day. I was happy because I had learnt how to take GCS and write nursing notes of the patient.

Evaluation:

The Bad thing today was that our preceptor didn’t come to hospital, due to which our research topic was pending. But the good thing was that we had learnt a lot of things there besides the absence of him.

See Also the Concept Integrated Map (CIM).

Analysis:

I think that if we work hard by focus and by heart, we can learn everything, either we have a guidance or not. But in the presence of a guidance, it just became a bit easier than its absence.

Conclusion:

We could learn many things more besides all these (learnt taking GCS and nursing notes), but I think that was enough for today and the other things will be postpones to the other weeks.

Action Plan:

This week we learnt about some basics about the ward and also search for our research topics, Next time we will learn more basics about this ward and also will work on our research further InshAllah.
