Gibbs Style Reflective Log - Nursing Clinical Reflection Example 1

Reflection of 1^st week of Clinical

This is an example of nursing clinical reflection which is being written in Gibbs' style. This can be used for the research reflective log or you may use it for other reflection also.                   

 

Description

It was our first day of clinical in 8^th semester. Me and my group member went to Neurosurgery ward in HMC where we met with our preceptor. We introduce ourselves with him that we are the students of 8^th semester in PGCN and we are here for research process and our teacher had already told you about us. He recognized us and welcomed us in his ward. He was a staff nurse there. He gave us orientation in the ward and then he discussed the topics, which we have brought there with us as a possible research topics. he told us that you should select that topic for research which is common everywhere so that it is easy for you to conduct research. We brought 50 topics with us, then after he explained all of these with us, we select only 5 topics out of these to proceed further.

 

Feelings

When we were going to the hospital, we have not met with the preceptor before that. We were thinking that how will be the preceptor? How will he treat us? But after meeting with him, he was very generous, and a nice man and he teach us very well. Now we were calm and were ready for further procedure.

 

Evaluation

We got understand that we should select a topic with a common problem so that we don’t have any difficulty for conducting research on that. And our teacher also told us to try to select a topic with a care or procedure. So, keeping both in mind, we select 5 topics out of 50, and then we will show it to our teacher for further selection.

Analysis

While the teacher was discussing the topics with us, he was asking question from us about these topics to check our knowledge about that. Fortunately, we were having some ideas about these. He then told us that the best topic for selection will be those in which you already had a good knowledge, and you can go deep in that.

 

Conclusion

During our clinical, we were also going to the rooms in the ward to search new topics, and to include that in our already written topics. So, during the end of our clinical, we were able to select only 5 topics out of these which will we then present that to our teacher and will discuss with her.

 

Action Plan

This time on clinical, we discuss the topics with our preceptor, after that we select 5 topics out of these. Next, we will select only one topic out of these with our teacher, and next time on clinical, we will work on that topic InshAllah.
