Clinical Reflection

On the day of clinical, Mam first saw our clinical objectives and check our uniform and share some information about hospital with us.

We were going to HMC by our school vehicle. We set in the vehicle at about 8:30 am and then reach the hospital at about 8:55 am.

There we go to the administration block and madam go inside to the Nursing director office to talk with them about our clinic. So we were waiting of her outside the office. When madam came out from the office, she brings us to the Gastro ward. There she talk with the head nurse of the ward about us and then she makes group of the students for different wards.

Me and two more students were assigned for the Gastro Ward. Then madam and all other students go outside from out ward, leaving the staff nurse with us for showing us skills.

From this point our duty start.

We were willing to do hand wash by the hand sanitizer as many of the sanitizer bottles were present outside every room, and also madam has told us to do hand washing firstly. We first sanitize our hand and then wear gloves and then move to a room. There were about 6 to 8 patient in that room. First we were watching to that nurse which were being assign to take care of us. I think she were not free for us, so she told to another male nurse to show us skills. So he told us that follow me. We then follow him and till the end of our clinic we were with him.

First of all he shows us that how to fill injection and then how to dilute the solution. He was telling us that see the patient name and his document to see what his requirement is.

First we observe the nurse that how is he filling the injection, the drops, passing the IV canola and then inject drugs through it and then how is he passing the drip with this IV canola.

Then one by one we also do the same technique i.e. we were able to fill the injection, can pass it through the canola and set the drip.

There were many patients there. Some of them were coming with the diagnosis of Gastro esophageal reflex disease (GERD), dyspepsia, ulcer, HBV, HCV.

We also see a patient with nasogastric tube and the nurse were giving them food with that tube. Then we go into endoscopic room. There we see endoscopic machine and the nurse told us about its parts and procedures. There we saw a patient whose intestine was blocked and the doctor took his tissue for biopsy.  It was a new observation for us. We were carefully watching to the machine.

We then see there another patient with HCV disease. His color was become yellow and his abdomen has been come to outward as he was jaundice and ascites.

The nurse with us then told us to bring this nebulizer machine with me. We took 2 nebulizer machine and then go to a room where were a COPD patient were present. In his document it was written to give atem and clenil qid (4 times a day.)

So we empty the given drugs in nebulizer, set the mask to the patient and then switch the nebulizer. Doctor also says that he has risk of Corona and refer to do Corona test.

At by this time it was about 12.30 pm. So we first tell the nurse that we are very much tired and our time is now end. After him, we talk with the head nurse that we are now going and our time is now full. So she gives us permission to go back. When we come out from the ward, we call our madam that what to do now. She told us that all of you come to the place where you were dropped at the morning. So we called all of our students to go back to college. We then set in the vehicle and going back to PGCN. We arrived at the college at about 1.10 pm. After that we come to our hostle and by next day madam asks us about our first day of clinical. So all of us told our whole story of our hospital to the madam separately. Madam was looking happy with us because we have done a lot of work with no any bad work or any rudeful manner in hospital or at the path.

So It was all the story about my first clinical.
